Build a useful structure with blocks
The Content tab contains the general content editor. Start with an introduction, add the programme, then cover practical questions such as inclusions, access, venue arrival and booking terms. Choose a block from the block library and edit its content in the canvas. Search the library when you know the layout you want.
- Text section; One column; Two columns; Three columns
- Use a simple reading column for descriptions, or columns for short pieces of related information. Check how columns stack at mobile width.
- Large heading; Hero / introduction
- Introduce a new part of the page. Choose heading levels by structure, not only by visual size. The event page already supplies the main event heading.
- Feature image; Two images; Image grid
- Give atmosphere and useful visual context room on the page. Replace sample images and check every image crop.
- Image left, text right; Text left, image right
- Pair a photograph with a short explanation, such as an artist profile or venue introduction.
- Three feature cards
- Present a small set of equal-weight benefits or programme highlights. Keep the text lengths reasonably balanced.
- Call to action
- Give visitors a clear next step. Edit both the wording and the link destination.
- Quote / testimonial; Highlighted message
- Use a real attributed quote or make an important practical message easy to spot.
- Checklist; Divider; Spacer; Footer
- Summarise useful steps, separate topics or finish the content. Avoid stacking large spacers that make a phone page unnecessarily long.
Move, copy and style a section
- Select the section you want to work on so its section controls appear.
- Use Move up or Move down to adjust its position. Re-read the surrounding content after moving it.
- Copy a section when you need another instance of the same layout, then replace its text, images and links.
- Open Section style to adjust that section’s border, background and spacing.
- Remove an unwanted section using its remove control. Use Undo while editing if you remove the wrong block.
- Border
- Enable a border, select its colour, choose solid, dashed, dotted or double, and set a width from 1 to 16. Use a restrained border to distinguish a useful notice.
- Background colour
- Enable a section background and choose a colour that preserves contrast with all text and links.
- Inner Spacing
- Adjust padding from 0 to 80. Padding creates space inside a section rather than changing the text itself.
- Corner Radius
- In the general content editor, adjust the corner radius from 0 to 48 where available. Check the result with any border or background.
Section style changes take effect in the editor immediately. They still need to be saved with the event. Use Undo to reverse an editing change before leaving the editor.
Format text so people can scan it
- Paragraph; Heading 1–6; Quote; Code block
- Choose the semantic role of the selected text. Use Heading 2 for main topics within the event description and Heading 3 for their subtopics. Reserve code blocks for literal code, not ordinary copy.
- Font family
- Available choices include Arial, Verdana, Tahoma, Trebuchet, Georgia, Times New Roman and Courier New. Staying close to the website’s normal font keeps the page coherent.
- Font size
- Choose from Smallest through Largest. Avoid shrinking essential information; use a heading style for headings instead of just making a paragraph larger.
- Text colour; Highlight colour
- Apply colour to selected text. Check its contrast against the section background and avoid conveying meaning by colour alone.
- Bold; Italic; Underline; Strikethrough
- Emphasise selected text. Ctrl+B, Ctrl+I and Ctrl+U provide the usual shortcuts. Use underlining sparingly so ordinary text is not mistaken for a link.
- Subscript; Superscript
- Format small raised or lowered characters when the content requires them.
- Bullet list; Numbered list
- Use bullets for related points and numbering for a sequence. Pressing a toolbar button applies list formatting to the current selection.
- Decrease indent; Increase indent
- Adjust list nesting or indentation. Keep the reading hierarchy simple.
- Align left; centre; right; justify
- Set paragraph alignment. Left alignment generally works best for longer descriptions, especially on phones.
- Clear inline formatting
- Remove character-level styling from selected text when pasted colours or fonts clash with the page. This is different from deleting a section.
Paste cleanly, find text and undo changes
- Undo / Redo
- Undo reverses recent edits; Redo reapplies an undone edit. Shortcuts are Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y. These are editing tools, separate from saved version history.
- Cut / Copy / Paste
- Move or reuse selected content. Normal paste performs cleanup; check the result when copying from a document or another website.
- Paste plain text
- Use Ctrl+Shift+V to remove source formatting, then apply the website’s headings and styles.
- Select all text in this section
- Selects text in the current section. Check the selection before replacing or deleting it.
- Browser spellcheck
- Use the browser’s spelling support to catch typos. Also check proper names, dates and venue details manually.
- Find and replace
- Enter Find text and optional Replace with text. Choose Match case when capitalisation matters. Find next reviews occurrences; Replace changes one; Replace all changes every matching occurrence. Review the result and use Undo if the scope was too broad.
- Special characters
- Insert a character from the picker when it is awkward to type. Confirm it displays correctly in the chosen font.
- Horizontal line
- Insert a visual separator between topics. Use headings as well so the structure remains clear.
Add links and jump points
- Select the link text, then choose Insert/edit link.
- Enter an Address: a full https:// web address, a mailto: email address, or a #anchor for a point on the same page. Check the Link text and choose Apply link.
- For a jump point, place the cursor at the target, choose Page anchor, enter a unique simple name such as getting-here and choose Insert anchor.
- Link to that point using #getting-here. Avoid spaces and reuse the exact spelling.
- Test the link in staged preview. Use Remove link when text should stop being clickable.
Use descriptive link text such as View the running order. Check copied links carefully: a link to another event’s tickets is easy to overlook when duplicating a block.
Add images and YouTube video
Place the cursor or select an image placeholder, then use Image library to select the intended asset. Check the size and crop in its column. Where image settings offer a text alternative, describe informative images clearly; keep essential information in text alongside them.
- To embed a video in the content, choose Insert YouTube video.
- Paste the video’s YouTube URL and add an optional Video title that identifies it.
- Choose Insert video. The embed fits its column at a 16:9 ratio and offers playback controls and fullscreen.
- Check staged preview and a phone-sized view. A private, removed or embedding-restricted video will not become playable simply because its URL is saved.
Content video is separate from the banner’s YouTube URL. Choose the placement that helps visitors understand the event without making them search for the ticket button.
Insert a small, readable table
- Choose Insert table where the table belongs in the content.
- Set Rows from 1 to 20 and Columns from 1 to 10.
- Enable Header row when the first row labels the columns, then choose Insert table.
- Enter concise values and inspect the table at mobile width. For a long programme, consider the dedicated Agenda records instead of a wide table.
Tables are useful for genuine comparisons or schedules. Use layout blocks, rather than tables, to place an image beside a paragraph.
Review the mobile layout and save
- Mobile width
- Narrows the editing view so you can check text, column stacking and images. It is a layout check, not a complete simulation of every phone.
- Expand editor
- Gives the editor more room while working. Return to the normal view to reach the surrounding event controls.
- Source (HTML)
- Shows the HTML for experienced editors. Some visual controls are unavailable in source mode. Make small, valid changes and return to the visual view to inspect them. Unsupported markup may be cleaned; do not use source mode to install scripts or application code.
- Check headings, links, image crops, video playback and all sample placeholder text.
- Save the event, then use Save & Preview to inspect the staged page in its actual website template.
- Review both desktop and narrow layouts, including the booking area below the content.
- Publish only after the content and destination links are correct. If the public page still shows the old copy, compare Published and Staged versions.
Keep going
- Design the event page and its search appearance
- Add performers, sponsors, agendas and photos
- Save, preview, publish and manage event versions
